FAN NIGHT PROVIDES PERFECT PRECURSOR TO TOP FUEL CHAMPS START

Riverlink Shopping Centre provided the perfect precursor to tomorrow’s Top Fuel Championships kick-off with a special fan night in its foodcourt this evening.
The Top Fuel Championships will feature the ever-popular 7000 horsepower flame-throwing Top Fuelers, the nitro-powered Top Bikes and highly developed naturally-aspirated Pro Stock Motorcycles, and will get underway tomorrow (Friday March 25) from 4.00pm at Willowbank Raceway, with racing continuing on Saturday March 26.
Before the on-track action begins, six of the stars of the ANDRA Pro Series took time out from their pre-event preparation to head to Riverlink Shopping Centre to meet the fans, with Top Fuel championship leader Darren Morgan, local Top Fuel star Steve ‘Pommy’ Read, Top Bike Champion Chris Matheson, Pro Stock Bike championship leader Maurice Allen, reigning Pro Stock Bike Champion Andrew Badcock and Pro Stock Bike racer Glenn Wooster all in attendance, as was Read’s Top Fuel dragster which has been on display in the centre since Saturday March 19.
"It has been great to get out and meet the fans tonight," said Morgan.
"I really hope that a lot of the people we have been able to chat to tonight come on out to Willowbank Raceway tomorrow and Saturday for the Top Fuel Championships, it is going to be a great event with some great racing!"
While the drivers signed autographs, HooZATT Entertainment provided dance and comedy entertainment courtesy of Hip Hop group the ‘Mashers’ and character ‘Bobby Dazzler’, and event MC Steve Bettes - Managing Director of Willowbank Raceway - regaled the fans with drag racing stories, conducted question and answer sessions with the drivers and gave away prizes including tickets to Friday’s action on-track.
The fan night is the conclusion of an in-centre promotion which has been held at Riverlink Shopping Centre this week, with Read’s Top Fueler and a Willowbank Raceway representative located in the food court since Saturday the 19th of March. Those who visited the Willowbank Raceway stand had the chance to go in the draw for tickets to the Castrol EDGE Winternationals, and received a $5 discount off the gate price for this weekend’s Top Fuel Championships.
Tickets for the Top Fuel Championships are available now through www.willowbankraceway.com.au, and start at just $35 for adults per day, with students with ID gaining a discounted entry. Children 13 and under gain free entry to the event, which will kick off on Friday March 25 at 4.00pm with qualifying, including ANDRA Pro Series qualifying at 5.00pm, 7.00pm and 9.00pm. Saturday March 26 will see the on-track action get underway from 11.00am, with ANDRA Pro Series racing from 5.00pm and finals for all categories including the Pro racers from 8.30pm (all times approximate and subject to change)
