OLD SCHOOL HORSEPOWER TO FIRE UP AT WILLOWBANK THIS SATURDAY

Willowbank Raceway will host more than 120 nostalgia drag racing vehicles on track this weekend for the first Cruzin Magazine Nostalgia Drags event of 2013.
Amongst the field will be the very first Nostalgia Super Stock entrants, with the high-revving clutch-equipped pre -1978 racers to be lead by category organiser Jai Schluter of Warner (QLD).
The most popular class by far will be the World Class Muscle Cars Nostalgia Dial Your Own bracket, featuring more than 65 racers entered for the bracket which caters for vehicles that travel the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds or slower. Due to its massive size, this bracket will be broken down into small eliminators based on Elapsed Time results.
Joining the Nostalgia Super Stock and World Class Muscle Car Nostalgia DYO racers at Queensland’s premier drag racing facility will be racers from the Winters Smash Repairs Top Eliminator, Western Suburbs Diff Quick Eliminator, Donnelly Blasting Services Mid Eliminator, Shannons Insurance Super Eliminator, Autobarn Vintage Gas and Retro Bike brackets.
Willowbank Raceway Managing Director Steve Bettes said the weekend’s event was shaping up to be a great day out for all the family.
“Nostalgia events at Willowbank Raceway are really something – they just have a special quality about them,” said Bettes.
“The cars, the people, the on and off track activities – it all just combines for a great relaxed day at the drag strip with some awesome cars and performances to boot.
“With tickets just $25.00 and cheaper for students with ID while children 13 and under gain free entry, Cruzin Magazine Nostalgia Drags events at Willowbank Raceway are a great day out for all the family.”
The Cruzin Nostalgia Drags at Willowbank Raceway will kick off with qualifying at 9.00am on Saturday 23 February 2013 ahead of racing from 4.00pm. Adult tickets are just $25.00 (less for students with ID) and children 13 and under gain free entry.
Featuring not only exciting racing from a range of Nostalgia classes, the event also offers the popular Shannons Insurance Show and Shine.
Open to all modern, classic, vintage, street machine and hot rod vehicles, the Shannons Insurance Show and Shine features a number of ‘Judged’ Trophies for Best GM, Best Ford, Best Mopar, Best Hot Rod, Best USA Vehicle and Best Australian Vehicle, and is open to all interested event attendees - see www.willowbankraceway.com.au for full information.
