Willowbank Raceway - General News: HSV FANATICS LEAD THE WAY TO THIS WEEKEND’S SHANNONS QLD AUTOSPECTACULAR

HSV FANATICS LEAD THE WAY TO THIS WEEKEND’S SHANNONS QLD AUTOSPECTACULAR

31 March 2014

When the Shannons Queensland Autospectacular hits Willowbank Raceway this Sunday (6 April) there will be no questioning the commitment of the HSV Owners Club of Queensland who will be displaying no less than 50 of their finest vehicles.

The club’s display will be one of many on-site at Queensland’s premier drag racing facility come Sunday, with more than 1,000 judged/display cars expected to be on show to more than 6,000 auto enthusiasts for the event which comes hot on the heels of Saturday’s third round of the Willowbank Raceway Street Series – for full results from that event, please see further in this press release or click here.

Club President Les Gray said events such as the Shannons Queensland Autospectacular at Willowbank Raceway provide a great opportunity for organisations such as the HSV Owners Club of Queensland.

“The HSV Club of Qld regularly attends Show ‘n’ Shine events all over SE Qld, and what better event is there to be involved in than the Shannons Qld AutoSpectacular,” said Gray, whose club was formed in 1982 with an average financial membership of more than 150 members.

“We attend small to large events from charity events right through to major events such as the RACQ Motorfest and as recently as 2012, the HSV Nationals - which the HSV Owners Club was very proud to fund and stage at the RNA showgrounds and Willowbank Raceway.

“Events such as these are a great way for like-minded owners to show off their pride and joy and spend the day chatting, comparing notes, and indulging in a bit of envying of others handiwork, all in a family friendly and safe environment such as Willowbank Raceway.”

Gray was quick to encourage other car clubs to get involved.

“This is a great opportunity for other car clubs to do the same and join in on the day and be given a fantastic opportunity to showcase your club to potential members and also display your stunning club vehicles,” said Gray ahead of the HSV Owners Club of Queensland’s second appearance at the Shannons Queensland Autospectcular.

“We expect to have at least 50 of the club's finest vehicles on display ranging from early HSV/HDT, right through to the current Gen-F HSV. Assuming the weather is fine – we also anticipate a couple of former race cars of Holden origin to join our display. Some club vehicles will also do some runs on the Willowbank drag strip during the course of the day, which is bound to spark a few “power” debates between enthusiasts.

“Events such as these always provide a great family day out with an unrivalled display of stunning vehicles all in one location and we urge all car clubs and the general public to find their way to Willowbank Raceway on April 6th for a great day out!”
