NITRO FUNNY CARS DELIGHT YOUNG FANS AT HYPERDOME AHEAD OF 12 SEPTEMBER EVENT

An abundance of young race fans have enjoyed a chance to get up close and personal with their outlaw nitro funny car driving heroes at Hyperdome today, ahead of next weekend’s Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car show at Willowbank Raceway.
With children aged 13 and under gaining free admission to Saturday’s event (12 September) and discounted adult entry passes on sale during today’s display, plenty of families took full advantage of the chance today to chat to the drivers and get the inside scoop ahead of their visit to the Ipswich facility.
Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car drivers Greg Leahy, Jake Donnelly, Dan Donnelly, Paul Messineo, Justin Walshe and Chelsea Leahy were joined by Factory Xtreme racer Collin Willshire at the Hyperdome for the meet and greet.
Presented by Donnelly Blasting Services, Saturday’s AONFC event will bring the largest ever field of outlaw nitro cars – more than 60,000 horsepower worth - to the Willowbank Raceway quarter-mile in a 12 September extravaganza.
Spectator entry is just $30.00 for adults ($25.00 for pension card holders and students with ID cards), and as always children aged 13 and under are admitted free of charge. Attendees of the annual Powercruise event (being held next door at Queensland Raceway on the same day) will gain entry at concession prices upon presentation of a promotional entry flyer that will be available at Powercruise during the day.
The action kicks off with a ‘salute’ to the crowd at 4.00pm and runs through to approximately 9.00pm, with the outlaw nitro funny cars to be joined by Pro Mod, Factory Xtreme and Kenda Tires Drag Radial racers for a non-stop show. For more information, please click here.

Jake Donnelly – ‘Bumblebee’ – “Today has been really good, lots of fun and very busy. I have really had a lot of fun talking to the fans and the kids and we can’t wait to see them at the track next week.”
Greg Leahy – ‘Stormtrooper’ – “Meeting the fans at Hyperdome has been incredible – the welcome, the support, and the enthusiasm for the cars has just been fantastic!”
Paul Messineo – ‘Dark Horse’ – “The Hyperdome today has just been awesome, I wasn’t expecting such a large response, everyone has been really friendly and asking a lot of questions – there has been so much interest and it looks like we will have lots of fans at the event for a big show next week.”
Justin Walshe – ‘Let’s Boogie’ – “Today has been really good, bigger than I expected and we have gone through a few thousand hero cards I think between us all, and plenty of stickers and event flyers have been walking out the door too. I have really enjoyed talking to the people and especially the kids about the cars.”
Chelsea Leahy – ‘Nitro Sherriff’ – “We have had a great reaction, everyone seemed really interested in there being a girl driver with the nitro funny cars. I love meeting people, and it is great to see people interested in drag racing. While I won’t be racing next week, I will be at the event and it is going to be one of the biggest of the year – I can’t wait to see everyone out there on Saturday.”
Dan Donnelly – ‘Rocket Ship’ – “It has been so busy here at Hyperdome today, it has been really good. We have handed out heaps of posters there has been lots of interest and hopefully that will equal a big turnout next weekend. I can’t wait for the weekend, between Powercruise next door at Queensland Raceway during the day and the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars on Saturday evening, it is going to be great.”
Collin Willshire – Jett Racing (Factory Xtreme) – “The Hyperdome has a really good family demographic so it is a great place for us to do this sort of thing, we have been talking to lots of families with kids today. I am a family person myself so I love chatting to the kids – they are great, they get a big buzz when they see the cars and see new things, and are so excited about the posters, autographs and stickers – every kid wants a sticker!”
