Willowbank Raceway - General News: NOSTALGIAS ROCK AS JAMBOREE BECKONS THIS WEEKEND

NOSTALGIAS ROCK AS JAMBOREE BECKONS THIS WEEKEND

16 August 2010

The NITRO! Nostalgia Nationals saw the return of State of Origin Wild Bunch Racing at the weekend, and it did not disappoint, with fans soaking up the action provided by almost 230 competitors.

While Queensland took the win in the Wild Bunch category, the fans were the real winner with two big days of nostalgic racing for them to enjoy with racing also from the Nostalgia Outlaw, Junior Fuel, Slingshot, Gas, Vintage Gas, Hot Rod, Aussie Muscle, US Muscle, Aussie Six Banger, Classic Bike and Outlaw Bike categories (please see below for race results).

“The return of State of Origin Wild Bunch racing was a huge success – we had eight cars from each side battling it out, with Queensland narrowly defeating New South Wales 49 points to 47,” said Nostalgia Drag Racing Series Promoter John Colbran.

“The crowd were continualsly entertained with plenty of great performances from the drivers, including Frank Mamone and his wheels-up runs and Simon Graham who was impressing with his 1000 foot burnouts!

“As well as our racing categories, we also had a Man of the Match award decided by the fans, and Warwick’s John Loy took that out so our congratulations go to him as well as to all of the racers who really turned it on for a great weekend!”

While the Nostalgia racing action might be over for now, fans only have to wait until this weekend for their next installment of high octane action with the 20th annual running of the popular Jamboree set to take place over Saturday and Sunday August 21 and 22.

Over two big days, a massive weekend of Sport Compact Drag Racing is planned, including a Show N Shine, Dyno Comp, Club Displays, Babes on Stage, Dance Shows, Car Audio Sound Off and Displays, Trader Displays and of course plenty of drag racing.

Saturday will see qualifying from 9.30am to 7.30pm, before racing takes place on Sunday from 10.30am to 5.00pm. Please see below for a full event schedule. Tickets start from just $30 with children 13 and under free.
