10 December 2015

Willowbank Raceway are pleased to announce a bursting 2016 calendar for Queensland’s premier drag racing facility, highlighted by the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Australian drag racing – the Winternationals.

The Winternationals (June 9-12) will be the season finale of the newly-launched 400 Thunder Australian Professional Drag Racing Series, alongside the Santo’s Super 3 Extreme Drag Race Event presented by Uplift Cranes and Titan Cranes - which in 2016 will enjoy a return to a two-day format across Good Friday and Easter Saturday (March 25 and 26). The nitro won’t be limited to the 400 Thunder events either, with the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car Series heading to the Raceway for Saturday the 30th of April after making its debut at the Ipswich facility amidst great fanfare earlier this year.

A bursting sportsman racing program is also afoot. These racers will be a part of both the Santo’s Super 3 and Winternationals events and will also enjoy a standalone round of the 400 Thunder Sportsman Series (2 April) at the Raceway; as well as the popular Queensland Drag Racing Championships and the Street Series.

The QDRC will feature a seven round racing calendar (including the final), while the Street Series racers will hustle over seven rounds to find the top eight in Powder Puff (ladies only), Street Sedan and Street Bike who will battle it out in October finals. Please

Also hitting the track will be 69 Test n Tunes, three Racer Test Days (31 January, 1 May and 2 October), nostalgia action with the East Coast Nostalgia Reunion (27 February) and East Coast Hot Rod Reunion (14 August), the Queensland Autospectacular (17 April), the Winters Warm-Up (4-5 June), Pro Street Shootout (25 June), the All Bike Day (3 July), All Ford Day (17 July) and Mopar Sunday (31 July), the hugely-popular Brisbane Jamboree (27 August), and the final round of the 2016 JP Racing Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series (24 September).

The venue will also again host the CMC Rocks QLD country music festival (March 11-13) and the RACQ All Schools Pedal Prix (July 28-29).

“From Test n Tunes to the QDRC to the Winternationals, we have something for everyone here at the Raceway across 2016,” said Manson.

“We pride ourselves on hosting as much racing as we can for all levels of racers and enthusiasts across the year – whether you want to test out your mettle in your car or bike, want to race at the elite level in the 400 Thunder Series, or simply want to revel in your favourite marque or the nostalgia of yesteryear - we have events for you.

“At the same time, we continue to also operate as a venue for the wider community, with events such as CMC Rocks QLD and the RACQ All Schools Pedal Prix.

“The future is certainly looking bright, and we can’t wait to host what we think is a great racing calendar across 2016.”
